Great Dinner Last Night! And more moving...

November 14th, 2014 at 04:48 pm

Last night, I brought a box of mac and cheese, the last piece of frozen chicken breast, and the opened bag of Rally's fries over to SO's and we made dinner. It would have been really tempting to eat dinner out, especially since we went to the movies, but I pointed out this was cheaper (and turned out delicious with some leftovers). I did get the kids combo at the movies because for whatever reason, my hands can't be idle during a movie. SO got the tickets with a combination of his student discount and military discount, so $15 for the tickets and $6 for my snacks.

The rest of the month should be pretty low-spend (other than Hunger Games next week and Black Friday shopping, both of which are budgeted). Our joint account is just over the dividend minimum with more to be added on our next paychecks. I'm guessing once utilities and move-in costs take out, we'll be back just under the dividend minimum, but we'll continue to build it up until we have that as a base amount and any monthly contributions go on top of that. Thanksgiving week will be pretty busy as that's when we'll look at my aunt's stuff (she's moving and has some stuff she's willing to give/sell to us) and do our Black Friday shopping. It'll be 3 weeks tomorrow and we could not be any more excited to start this next chapter together!!

Good on you for not giving into temptation and making a delicious dinner at SO's. It can be a lot of fun to work together to create a yummy meal. I wonder if you'd consider getting a plastic 'shoe' box at Dollar type store and creating a 'snack' box for grocery store bought movie & TV watching snacks when you move to the apartment. The stuff at the theatres is so much more expensive it nullifies most ticket discounts. ...just a thought

Yeah, that's one of the things I'm most looking forward to is cooking together! And we have a brand new set of pots and pans from Black Friday last year to do it with. I love the idea of a home snack box, but in truth, I don't often feel the need to snack at home. It's just when I'm sitting, something has to be moving and I've found that my leg bouncing in theatres is really obnoxious to everyone around me. Having the snack box lets my hands move constantly, so I'm not shaking my leg. It's something my parents started me on as a kid that I've never grown out of, but thinking about it, I may try bringing a stress toy next time to keep my hands busy, so I don't need the food.

Brilliant to use stress balls/toys so much friendlier to waist line and the junk food is really so unhealthy in so many ways
