Eating down the pantry - day 1

November 4th, 2014 at 03:55 pm

With the impending move, I've decided to try and get rid of most of my random food items left on my shelf in the basement. This consists mostly of soups, ramen, and a couple boxes mac and cheese. I also have one pack of chicken in the freezer. First up, loaded potato with bacon and cheese and crackers. It's a little difficult since I go to SO's sometimes (as I will be tonight), so I have to plan ahead and bring it with me.

Do you think you stocked up too much on those things? Stocked up wisely on those things, but then changed eating habits?

JotA, I don't think so. I think what makes it difficult is I don't always feel comfortable using the kitchen upstairs because I feel like I'm intruding, so I'd eat something that didn't require cooking or pick up fast food using my grocery budget. With the soups, I bought them on a really great deal last year for less than a buck a piece, but then never really ate them. I only have about 10 soups, 8 noodles, and 2-3 boxes of mac and cheese. It's not an overwhelming pantry, but if I can use those up in the next month, then 1) I won't spend on groceries, and 2) I won't have to worry about moving them. I also have some rice which I plan to use to thicken up the soups because I don't really like them so liquidy.
